YEAR 9 KNIGHTS TEMPLAR - HALF TERM HOLIDAY HOMEWORK

1. Watch the Specsavers Crop Circles advert a few times (it is at the bottom of the page or easily found on Youtube). Pay particular attention to the SHOTS that have been used (refer to your notes to remind yourselves of the different types).

ON PAPER: Write at least two paragraphs explaining which shots have been used and why they are particularly effective.

2. Spellings.... LOOK LEFT! If they look a little terrifying, just have a go at learning some. They are some of the most commonly misspelt words in English so learn them now and put yourselves ahead of the rest!

Deadline for Specsavers work:

Tuesday 8th June, period five.

The spelling test will be on Wednesday 9th June, period 3.

Why is Ghandi's speech so persuasive? Please refer to specific techniques, give quotations if you can remember them (the odd word is fine) and comment on delivery too.

Why do you think the film makers started with his death?

Why did they include the train incident?

Tacitus and Tragedy

You can read the introduction to an excellent book on this here. Do not worry if it is heavy going. It will be enough to scan it and absorb the main gist - that Tacitus and his predecessors (Cicero, Virgil, Ovid, Pliny) would have been well-versed in Greek Tragedy and that its influence is definitely in evidence.
